statement: yanni, hafez, & abadir-mullaly constructed an installation together that discusses a mixed relationship to egyptian culture. through image, video, text and objects, the three investigate their shared status as mixed race egyptians. using childhood memories, religion, gender, and similar topics as a point of departure, hbb investigates what it means to inhabit a partial and liminal cultural space.
*hbb is shorthand for the arabic word of endearment, habibi, which translates to my love
